New maps + Level Select?
New Maps + Level Select?
I watched another playthrough of someone getting wrecked by the storm. I don't know if to be concerned if players quit the game due to it being too difficult, especially people not familiar with the genre or younger demographics. I wonder if the game should have different maps/difficulties to ease people in. e.g.
- [Prologue] No timer or storm
- [Map 1] very slow storm, 50% intensity of current storm, 1.25x scaling, storm has only 1/5th HP
- [Map 2] current difficulty, current 1.5x scaling + Storm debuffs + Injury mechanic (Hospitals, Pharmacies)
- [Map 3] same as map 2 but + Tornado + Pirate attacks
- [Map 4] Blizzard + Temperature management + Final superstorm combining all previous storm mechanics
On another note, each map could be a different biome. Blizzard is in ice biome with penguins. Volcano map where the sea is lava would be a nice scenery change too.
I came up with this idea while working on the new prologue map/level (aimed to release tomorrow). I wondered if the game should have a campaign and split the storm into different difficulty levels literally.
Maybe players could take this boat in the home island to travel to the different maps. And get rid of difficulty selection, replacing it with levels.
The concern is pro players would find Map 1 way too easy and there's no way to skip to later stages of campaigns. And they would just quit since the first map is too easy, therefore not fun.

I dont think you should be concern about that probaly someone who is pro in the game already had beat the first map.
