v0.19 - Labs + 13 Tech bonuses!


v0.19 is released!

Quark Labs

A new building has been added. It is quite expensive, producing a new currency: Quarks.

Labs can be upgraded to produce quarks faster, and go up to level 3.

Roguelike Bonuses

When you gain a quark, you can spend it on one of 13 new tech bonuses. However, you can only pick a selection out of four. The bonuses available to pick are random.  These bonuses last throughout the current run. In future, the storm will give you debuffs to counter these bonuses. The debuffs haven't been implemented yet, so enjoy the 'free' bonuses for now!


A list of possible bonuses right now, more to be added as new mechanics are made in future:

  • +10% farm speed
  • +10% speed to all cranes and smelters
  • +10% turret and +20% reflector damage
  • +10% workshop speed bonus
  • +10% to electricity generated
  • +100% capacity to all item and electricity storages
  • +10s peaceful duration
  • -10% happiness penalty from population growth, overwork and homelessness
  • Push the storm backward by 1m
  • All future storms last 10% shorter
  • Pause time for 120 seconds.
  • Marketplaces +10% output
  • +10% lab speed

Need more food? Pick herbalism.

Always low on steel and iron? Pick Industrialist.

Struggling with the storm? Pick Weatherologist or Meteorologist.

Bonus stacking

If you pick the same bonus, it levels up. That's right, bonuses can stack! Allowing you to specialize in Herbalist for farms, etc.

I am considering to put a number text at the icon to show the current level of each, although the effect is clearly visible below the description currently.

Quarks


To pick a bonus, you need Quarks, produced by the labs.

If you spam quark labs, you can get your quark generation really high, so with every upgrade you pick, the next one gets about 20% more expensive. This forces you to not just max everything (at least not until end game), but to also be careful of what you pick, to adapt to your current needs and preferred strategy.

v0.19 Fixes:

  • - Pets now fall when bridge collapses
  • - Fix typing in trading input field triggering shortcuts

Please let me know what you think of the bonuses, the quark system and the new buildings! These are still very early and will require more testing to balance out, so any feedback is appreciated!

Yesterday when i made a run and discoverd this thing i really liked it when i discovered what it does. The level of it felt good. One suggestion put in every post a link to discord to expend the server and also write in there when you make a post.

Also good idea to add the discord as I hadn't shared its presence officially!

i meant that the time it produce and the resource it take to what it gives is how it should be
