v0.12 - Settler Revamp + Professions!


v0.12 is released


Settlers have been revamped! I believe this change will make settlers useful and more fun moving forward, even if it means the game gets a little harder. Previously, you could just spam rows of buildings if you had the resources. But now you have to ensure that you have sufficient settlers to keep them working. You could also overwork your settlers by forcing buildings to be built with cards, but that can have consequences for your existing settlers!

Professions

Settlers can now specialize to boost all building productions. You can assign settlers to learn 4 different professions. The old productivity system has been upgraded and you can have different settlers. For now scientists do not do anything however. But they will have a use in the future with a science tech lab. More info to come!


More professions will be added in the future, such as Doctors to heal injured settlers and taxman who will tax your settlers! There may even be the ability to give them equipment to boost the bonuses?

School building

A school has been added which can speed up settlers learning rate into the profession.

  • - Idle settlers are required for several buildings
  • - Settlers can specialize into professions to boost production speeds
  • - Add overwork mechanic: Overworked settlers eat 3x as much!

Balancing

  • - Titanium chance reduced: 20% -> 15%
  • - Smelter cost increased: 4 -> 8 ore
  • - Card speed penalty reduces by 33% after each storm
  • - Happiness penalty per 5 settlers increased: -3% to -5%
  • - Smelters speed decreased to match crane speed: 20s -> 24s
