v0.4 - Upgrade visuals, settings


I added level 2 visuals for all the buildings! Most of them are just colour swaps though. I only did this for the farms initially, as they are the most important buildings, and I wanted to show that they have double output so I just duplicated the bottom row to form the top. I didn't do it for the rest until I had a bit of spare time, which is now, so I decided to make all of them have upgraded version appearances, just to be consistent!


The cookhouse is a little different. I added trumpets. In this game, playing music makes the food cook faster haha. It's random but I think it's funny. And it's my game, so why not?

There were saving issues in the previous build, so I have fixed them. Now the permanent upgrades should actually be permanent. Whoops.

Also if you quit to menu after surviving a storm, you can now get rewards without having to wait for your settlement to die. This way, you can exit the game at any time and still get rewards, as long as you survived at least one storm. If you fail before then, you still get rewards but not before at least encountering a storm as this game IS about a storm after all.


I also added settings as some people may face performance issues on older web browsers or devices. This was a low priority feature as it does not add to the gameplay itself so I left it to the last day of the jam and would be aborted if I could not get it to work. I used my own settings framework to accomplish this so it didn't take too much time. However, here's an example of a free one if you're a Unity developer reading this.

I added this also partly thanks to someone who feedbacked that the game broke on DuckDuckGo browser. I'm unsure what caused the issue sadly, but maybe toggling these settings in that browser can help debug it in future if it's caused by a specific rendering feature.
