A new update has been released with detailed patch notes in-game. One of the additions is the ability to ride boats!

The new building, a Boatyard, can be constructed after a minor story event.

This is still an early feature, so there is just one boat for now and its use is limited. I plan to add more boat types in future that have greater speeds.
